MP Workers’ Plight Heard: MP Mannalal Rawat Directs Officials to Ensure Payment

Udaipur: Taking cognizance of media reports regarding non-payment of wages to migrant workers from Madhya Pradesh, along with their alleged eviction by the police outside the Collectorate, Member of Parliament (MP) Mannalal Rawat personally met the affected workers on Thursday afternoon and assured them of swift resolution.

The MP directly engaged with forest department officials, from the ranger level to the Divisional Forest Officer (DFO), instructing them to resolve the matter at the earliest and ensure rightful payment to the workers.

🔹 MP Rawat’s Ground-Level Action

MP Mannalal Rawat reached Gandhi Ground in the afternoon, where over 150 workers, including women and children, had been camping since Wednesday. He first inquired about their living and food arrangements before gathering them at the municipal night shelter hall to discuss their grievances in detail.

A worker, Lalji, narrated their ordeal:

• A contractor hired them at ₹70 per pit for digging and pond construction work.
• 186 workers participated in the project in Prasad and other locations.
• When it was time for payment, the contractor was replaced, and the new contractor reduced the rate to ₹25 per pit.

When the MP inquired about a written agreement, the workers admitted that the arrangement was based solely on verbal trust.

Without delay, MP Rawat contacted the forest ranger over the phone and later engaged directly with DFO Mukesh Saini to ensure that the issue was resolved immediately.

🔹 Direct Intervention with DFO for Wage Settlement

Recognizing the urgent need for resolution, MP Rawat led a delegation of workers to the DFO’s office at Chetak Circle. He facilitated a face-to-face discussion between the workers and DFO Mukesh Saini, ensuring that the workers’ concerns were heard and addressed transparently.

The DFO assured that payments would be made as per government regulations and that each worker would receive their wages directly into their bank accounts—a move aimed at preventing discrepancies or disputes in the future.

Following a two-hour dialogue between the workers and officials, MP Rawat reassured them that their dues would be cleared. He also promised to discuss the eviction issue with police authorities and directed the Chief Medical and Health Officer (CMHO) to ensure medical aid for sick women and children.

Highlighting the gravity of the situation, MP Rawat stressed that over 150 workers had been struggling for four days, with no proper shelter, food, or medical assistance. He urged officials to facilitate immediate payments so that workers could return to their villages in time to celebrate Holi with their families.
