Maulana Arshad Madanis Bold Statement on Jihad as a Muslim Right

Haridwar, June 24: Maulana Syed Arshad Madani, the National President of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, addressed a significant gathering in Kalier, Haridwar, during the Uttarakhand state executive meeting. As the chief guest, he spoke on various issues including social harmony, democratic values, religious freedom, and matters of national importance to a large audience of scholars, Hafiz, and members of the Muslim community.

In his address, Maulana Madani emphasized, “In 1803, when our country was under colonial rule, the message of jihad was proclaimed for independence. It is the duty of every Muslim to engage in jihad to free the nation from the chains of slavery. Those who do not understand this are ignorant.”

He highlighted the importance of Muslims and mosques in the struggle for freedom, lamenting that the current government is demolishing these mosques. He stated that since independence, those in power have started to harm Muslims, entangling them in riots and conflicts. He asserted that the government is not only against Muslims but also against Islam, as religious sites are being destroyed.

Maulana Madani remarked on the significant contribution of Muslims to the nation’s independence and progress. He stressed that the country can only thrive through love and compassion, yet mosques and madrasas are being demolished, and incidents of mob lynching against Muslims are occurring. He questioned what the country has given to Muslims in return for their contributions.

He urged Muslims to live with love and compassion towards everyone, asserting that true loyalty to the country requires such an approach. He recalled how during the floods in Bengal, the Ulema-e-Hind provided food to both Hindus and Muslims, yet today, the homes of those same Muslims are being destroyed, and madrasas are being shut down.

Referring to a recent incident of arson in Delhi, he noted that Muslims saved lives by removing goods from their shops without asking about anyone’s religion. “Are they traitors to the nation?” he questioned, emphasizing the need for unity and love in the country.
