Kolkata, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran): Ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections, the West Bengal government has carried out a major reshuffle in the state administration, transferring several IAS and WBCS officers across key districts and departments. The official notification was issued by the state secretariat, Nabanna, on Monday.

The large-scale reshuffle comes as the State Inquiry Report (SIR) process begins and is being viewed as a move of both political and administrative significance. Experts noted that such a shake-up was expected before the elections.
According to the transfer list:

Sharad Kumar Dwivedi, District Magistrate (DM) of North 24 Parganas, has been appointed Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department.

Sumit Gupta, DM of South 24 Parganas, will now serve as Commissioner, Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

Shashank Shetty, Managing Director of HIDCO, has been appointed DM, North 24 Parganas.

Arvind Kumar Meena, DM of Cooch Behar, becomes DM, South 24 Parganas.

Rajarshi Mitra, DM of Murshidabad, is now the Managing Director, HIDCO.

Rajat Nand, DM of Purulia, has been made Director, State Tourism Department.

Preeti Goyal, DM of Darjeeling, is transferred as DM, Malda, while Nitin Singhania, DM of Malda, will take charge as DM, Murshidabad.

Sheikh Khontam Sudhir, CEO of Haldia Development Authority, becomes DM, Purulia.

Bhaval Jain, Commissioner of Kolkata Municipal Corporation, has been appointed DM, Birbhum.

U. Rishin Ismail, Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Department, will now serve as DM, East Midnapore, while Raju Mishra, Special Secretary, Commerce and Industries Department, becomes DM, Cooch Behar.

Akanksha Bhaskar, Additional DM of Basirhat, has been posted as DM, Jhargram.

Manish Mishra, Additional DM of North 24 Parganas, is appointed DM, Darjeeling.

Bidhan Chandra, DM of Birbhum, has been moved as Special Secretary, Food and Supplies Department, and Sunil Agarwal, DM of Jhargram, is now Special Secretary, North 24 Parganas Development Department.

Purnendu Kumar Maji, DM of East Midnapore, has been transferred as Special Secretary, Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Department.
The transfer list also includes 22 Additional District Magistrates (ADMs) and Officers on Special Duty (OSDs) from districts such as East and West Burdwan, South 24 Parganas, Purulia, West Midnapore, North Dinajpur, Cooch Behar, Birbhum, Malda, Jalpaiguri, Bankura, and Howrah.
Additionally, 15 Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) have been transferred, covering key regions including Siliguri, Basirhat, Kalna, Mathabhanga, Mal, Rampurhat, Jangipur, Kharagpur, Egra, Chandannagar, Kandi, Kurseong, Islampur, Katwa, and Ranaghat.
The reshuffle marks one of the most extensive administrative changes in West Bengal in recent months, setting the stage for the upcoming Assembly elections.
