Bhopal, July 29 (Udaipur Kiran): The spell of rain continues in the capital Bhopal and several parts of the state. So far, 7% more than normal rainfall has been recorded. Narmada and other rivers are in spate. Gates of several dams including Kolar, Bargi, and Satpura have been opened to release water. Bhopal has been experiencing light rain with fog since Monday morning. In Ujjain, temples on the banks of the Shipra river have been submerged. Shajapur is facing a flood-like situation, with water entering homes and shops. Today, Monday, a heavy rain alert has been issued for 8 districts including Jabalpur.
The Meteorological Department has informed that the activity of the low-pressure system and the passage of the monsoon trough through the state have led to a spell of heavy rain. Due to the monsoon trough and cyclonic circulation, heavy rain will start again. Although the spell of heavy or very heavy rain will subside on Tuesday, a strong system will again be active in the state from July 31. This will drench the entire state. The Meteorological Department has informed that 10% more than average rainfall has been recorded in the western part of the state – Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, Gwalior-Chambal divisions, while 4% more rainfall has been recorded in the eastern part – Rewa, Sagar, Jabalpur, and Shahdol divisions. The districts of Jabalpur division in the eastern part – Seoni, Dindori, Chhindwara, Mandla, and Balaghat have received the highest rainfall. Bhopal division is also ahead in terms of rainfall.
Meanwhile, a flood-like situation has arisen in Shajapur due to heavy rain on Sunday night. Here, rainwater has entered homes. People did not even get a chance to recover and dirty water started entering their homes. A lot of goods have been damaged. Water has filled up to 4 feet on the roads. Water is flowing with a strong current in the colonies. While in Ujjain, a small bridge over the Shipra river has been submerged. The river water is flowing 3 feet above the bridge. The Meteorological Department has issued a rain alert for Ujjain and nearby areas today. NDRF, SDRF, and police teams are present at Ram Ghat in Ujjain. Devotees are being continuously warned about the rising water level of the river. The water level of the Shipra river is continuously rising. Water has reached the temples built on the banks of the river. Some parts of the temples have been submerged in water.
