Irans New Supreme Leader Remains Out of Public Eye Amid Speculations

New Delhi, May 9: Following a devastating attack on February 28, which resulted in the death of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, his son Mojtaba Khamenei has been appointed as the new Supreme Leader of Iran. However, Mojtaba has not been seen in public, leading to various speculations about his health and role in the Iranian leadership structure.

According to U.S. intelligence reports, Mojtaba is believed to be playing a crucial role in formulating war strategies alongside senior Iranian officials. The current power dynamics in Iran remain unclear, but it is suggested that he may be assisting in directing negotiations for ending the conflict with the United States.

Mojtaba has not appeared publicly since sustaining serious injuries in the initial attack, raising questions about his health and involvement in governance. Initially, former U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that Mojtaba was severely injured in the assault.

Despite his absence from public view, statements attributed to him have surfaced. U.S. media reports indicate that one reason for the speculation surrounding his condition is that he is not using any electronic means for communication. Instead, Mojtaba is reportedly communicating either in person or through courier services.

Sources from U.S. media have revealed that he remains isolated and is undergoing medical treatment for his injuries, which include severe burns affecting his face, hands, torso, and legs.

Mojtaba’s protocol chief, Majahar Hosseini, stated on Friday that he is recovering from his injuries and his condition is now stable. Hosseini mentioned that Mojtaba has minor injuries to his legs and lower back, and a small fragment lodged behind his ear, but that the wounds are healing.

In a recent address to an assembly in Iran, Hosseini expressed gratitude for Mojtaba’s recovery and urged patience among the public, stating, “The enemy spreads all kinds of rumors and false claims. They want to see and find him, but people should remain patient and not rush. He will speak to you at the right time.”

Iranian President Masoud Pajeskhian recently revealed that he had a two-and-a-half-hour meeting with Mojtaba, marking the first face-to-face interaction between a top Iranian official and the new Supreme Leader.

U.S. media sources have indicated that any information regarding Mojtaba’s condition has been relayed through individuals in contact with him. However, intelligence analysts are questioning whether some within Iran’s power structure are claiming access to Mojtaba to further their own agendas, potentially misusing his authority.
