SIAM’s Director General, Rajesh Menon, stated, “The sales of passenger vehicles, three-wheelers, and two-wheelers in January 2026 have been the highest ever, showing double-digit growth compared to January 2025.”

He further added, “The positive start to the new year is attributed to sustained demand following the reduction in GST rates, maintaining the strong momentum observed in the previous quarter. The initiatives announced in the 2026 Union Budget to strengthen India’s manufacturing base, along with favorable existing policy conditions, are expected to provide long-term benefits and support growth in the medium term.”
