Bengaluru/New Delhi : Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said on Sunday that the Central Budget 2024-25 has taken every state into account, refuting claims of neglecting certain states. She made these comments while addressing the media in Bengaluru.
Sitharaman criticized misinformation regarding the Central Budget allocations, stating that no state has been overlooked. She highlighted that the Budget 2024-25 focuses on youth, MSMEs, agricultural research and development, and several other categories.
Elaborating on the announcements in the Central Budget 2024-25, the Finance Minister clarified revenue sharing and allocations for Karnataka. She mentioned that there is a misconception among many in Karnataka that the central government is not fulfilling its financial obligations. Sitharaman accused the current state government of spreading false information.
She provided comparative figures, stating that during the UPA government (2004-2014), Karnataka received a tax share of ₹81.71 crore, whereas under the NDA government, this amount has increased to ₹2,95,818 crore. Additionally, grant assistance during the UPA’s last 10 years was ₹60,779 crore, compared to ₹2,36,955 crore in the past 10 years under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s administration.
Notably, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is on a one-day visit to Karnataka. During her visit, she participated in a program organized by the BJP in Bengaluru, engaging with intellectuals. She also discussed various issues with Union Ministers Prahlad Joshi (Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution) and R.K. Singh (New and Renewable Energy).
