Kushinagar, October 23 (Udaipur Kiran) — A bus carrying passengers from Jaipur to Bihar’s Madhubani for the Chhath Mahaparv overturned on NH-28 in Kushinagar on Thursday morning, leaving at least 22 people injured, including women and children.
According to reports, the high-speed luxury bus lost control and overturned near Chaurasia Marriage Hall, close to Bahadurpur police outpost. The sudden accident caused panic among the passengers, many of whom started shouting for help as the vehicle overturned.
Local residents and police personnel quickly reached the spot after receiving information about the mishap. They played a key role in rescuing trapped passengers and shifting the injured to nearby hospitals. Several of the injured are reported to be in serious condition.
Eyewitnesses said the driver lost control due to high speed, causing the bus to skid and overturn. The impact of the crash scattered passengers’ belongings across the road, and the accident temporarily disrupted traffic movement on National Highway 28.
Police immediately began relief and rescue operations and managed to restore traffic after clearing the damaged bus from the road with the help of locals.
The mishap occurred at a time when thousands of people from across the country, including those working or studying in Jaipur, are returning home to Bihar for Chhath Puja and the upcoming state elections. For the passengers on this ill-fated bus, the journey home turned tragic midway.
