New Delhi, August 5: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) targeted the main opposition party, Congress, and its leader in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, during a press conference on Wednesday. BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra accused Rahul Gandhi of fabricating a false narrative regarding student protests.
The BJP’s response came shortly after Rahul Gandhi’s media briefing, where he claimed that gunfire was directed at protesters during a march to Parliament involving some students from the Jantar Mantar demonstration. Sambit Patra dismissed Rahul Gandhi’s allegations as baseless and false.
Patra noted that during a recent press conference, Rahul Gandhi was accompanied by children who participated in the Delhi protests, emphasizing that children are innocent and represent the future of the nation.
He reiterated that the BJP had previously stated that no firing occurred during the ‘Parliament Chalo’ protest on July 20, and he reaffirmed this point, stressing the sensitivity of the issue to prevent any misconceptions.
Targeting Rahul Gandhi, Patra criticized the practice of using innocent children in political narratives, stating that children should not bear the burden of political agendas. He reassured the children present that they need not fear, as they are supported by everyone, including the Prime Minister.
Patra expressed the BJP’s intention to expose the opposition’s false propaganda, asserting that all children in the country are valued and should not be intimidated by protests. He also mentioned the plight of students in Jharkhand, questioning why Rahul Gandhi has not addressed their issues, possibly due to the presence of the INDIA coalition government in the state.
