Assam: Suspected ULFA terrorists shot dead 5 civilians in Tinsukia

Police sources said, a group of miscreants wearing camouflage entered into a village and shot dead innocent civilians.

Several persons are reportedly injured in the firing. Though police are yet to identify the culprits, it is suspected that ULFA terrorists are involved in the crime.

Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has condemned the incident and instructed police to take strictest action against the miscreants.

Meanwhile, all political parties and civil society organisations have condemned the incident.

Meanwhile, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has expressed deep anguish over civilian casualties in an attack in Upper Assam region.

Rajnath Singh has termed it as a reprehensible act of mindless violence.

The Home Minister has spoken to Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal regarding the incident and asked him to take strict possible action against the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
