Itanagar, August 9: The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, K.T. Parnaik, emphasized the state’s role as a guardian of India’s eastern border during a recent event. He praised the people of Arunachal for their exemplary patriotism and dedication in safeguarding the unity and integrity of the nation.
In collaboration with Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Deputy CM Chowna Mein, the Governor launched a statewide ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign. He stated that this initiative is much more than just a flag hoisting program.
The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is a nationwide effort aimed at deepening patriotism, strengthening national unity, and fostering a strong connection with the values that define India’s identity.
On this occasion, the Governor, alongside the Chief Minister, presented the national flag to the youth and sang the national song ‘Vande Mataram’ with the participants.
Governor Parnaik called upon all citizens to proudly hoist the national flag and actively participate in this campaign. He described it as a people’s movement that rekindles the spirit of patriotism and strengthens emotional unity.
He noted that as India moves towards its goal of becoming a ‘developed nation’, patriotism should be reflected not only in words but also in responsible actions. These actions include respecting the Constitution, protecting public property, caring for the environment, and dedicated service to society and the nation.
Reciting a poem he wrote about the patriotism of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor highlighted the deep significance of the tricolor. He explained that the saffron color symbolizes courage and selfless service, white represents peace, harmony, and truth, green signifies prosperity and harmony with nature, while the Ashoka Chakra inspires continuous progress along the path of justice and righteousness.
Remembering the historical significance of August 9, the Governor noted that on this day in 1942, Mahatma Gandhi launched the ‘Quit India Movement’ with the slogan ‘Do or Die’, inspiring millions of Indians to unite against colonial rule.
He stated that during the freedom struggle, the national flag emerged as a powerful symbol of freedom, strength, and a collective national purpose.
Governor Parnaik urged schools, colleges, youth organizations, self-help groups, and community institutions to organize activities that promote patriotism, national awareness, and civic responsibility.
