Apple Watch X renders show a new mechanism to extend battery life

Apple is expected to launch its next-generation smartwatch alongside the iPhone 16 model in September. The latest renders of the upcoming Apple Watch X (Series 10) have leaked online.

The rendering confirmed previous rumors that the Cupertino tech giant might use a new magnetic stripe mechanism to increase the battery capacity of its Apple Watch X models.

Apple Watch X improvements: What to expect

Previously, Bloomberg’s Mark Garman claimed that the Apple Watch Current band assembly methods involve sliding the end of the band into the top and bottom slots of the watch. This slot takes up enough space in the device to prevent Apple from adding larger cells to extend the Apple Watch’s battery life.

The latest renderings show the bracelet wrapping around the “handles,” which are expected to be located at the top and bottom of the watch. The “handle” has no grooves at the top or bottom, which is intended to create more space for larger batteries inside the watch module.

Previous rumors suggested that the company might replace the OLED panel for the Apple Watch X with a microLED display, but that may not be the case yet.

The Apple Watch is expected to deliver perhaps the best battery life of any Apple Watch.
