Amit Shah to Visit West Bengal Amid Government Formation Process

New Delhi, May 6: Following the historic victory of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, the process of forming the government has accelerated. Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to arrive in West Bengal on Thursday evening after attending an oath-taking ceremony in Bihar.

According to sources, during his visit, Amit Shah will hold crucial meetings with party leaders. He is expected to discuss strategies regarding the oath-taking ceremony and the formation of the new cabinet ahead of the legislative party meeting scheduled for May 8. This meeting is considered extremely important as it may finalize the shape of the Chief Minister and the cabinet.

The BJP has appointed Amit Shah as the central observer for West Bengal, with Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Chandra Majhi serving as the co-observer. This information was shared by BJP National General Secretary Arun Singh through a press release.

Notably, the BJP has made significant strides in West Bengal, paving the way for forming a government for the first time. According to the Election Commission’s data, the BJP secured 207 seats in the 294-member assembly, while the Trinamool Congress (TMC) was reduced to 80 seats. Additionally, the Congress won 2 seats, and the CPI(M) secured 1 seat.

Amit Shah played a pivotal role during the election campaign, often referred to as the chief strategist of the BJP and the ‘Chanakya’ of current politics. He conducted rallies, roadshows, and public meetings from the end of March until April 27, fiercely attacking the government led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

His participation in electoral events on April 10, 11, 13, 14, 15, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, and 27 focused on issues like ‘syndicate raj’ and ‘infiltration’ concerning the TMC government.

His upcoming visit is seen as a decisive step towards government formation, with the identity of West Bengal’s new Chief Minister likely to be clarified in the coming days.
