Amazon Prime Video has rolled out a redesigned user interface globally that aims to simplify the streaming experience. The streaming giant says the new interface will make it easier for customers to discover movies, TV shows, live sports and terrestrial TV, as well as manage and sign up for additional subscriptions, which it says will be easier. This update introduces a new navigation bar that allows users to navigate by content type. Additionally, viewers can now browse, register, and manage their active plugin subscriptions directly from the navigation bar. Additionally, there are AI-powered improvements to personalization features and the redesign includes updated summaries for movies and shows.
Amazon Prime Video’s user interface has been redesigned
Amazon announced a global update to its user interface in a blog post. The UI update rolled out globally on Tuesday and is expected to be available to all customers in the coming weeks. “Our advances in user experience provide customers with an easy-to-navigate entertainment destination where they can not only discover new titles and enjoy their favorites, but also sign up for additional subscriptions in just a few simple steps. Best of all, you can do it with a single login,” said Kam Kashmiri, vice president of design at Prime Video
The update introduces a simple navigation bar with general categories such as Home, Movies, TV Shows, Sports, and Live TV. This new navigation bar includes a dedicated tab for active add-on subscriptions for the Prime Video channel. In India, users can select subscriptions to explore over 20 additional subscriptions.
With Prime Destinations in the navigation bar, users can browse movies and shows available to Prime members at no additional cost. Meanwhile, Prime Video has added a new “Hero Rotator” below the navigation bar to highlight content available to subscribe or rent.
Amazon Prime Video AI features
The streaming service Amazon has added personalized recommendations using artificial intelligence to its platform. This feature is made possible by the company’s Bedrock artificial intelligence model, which provides content recommendations based on a user’s browsing history and preferences. Users can also browse content by preferences and other categories like “India’s Top 10”. Basic and additional subscription logos now appear on hero cards and title cards for movies and TV shows.
Additionally, Prime Video uses large-scale linguistic models (LLM) to simplify TV and movie summaries and provide at-a-glance title descriptions. Additionally, Amazon says the new interface features new animations, simple transitions, and zoom effects to enhance your streaming experience.
On devices in the living room, video content plays on the Hero Rotator while the user browses. Live TV destinations automatically start playing recommended channels until you switch to full-screen playback or exit to watch another channel.
