Airtel on Friday announced revised prices for its prepaid recharge plans and postpaid plans, increasing charges by 20 percent. The mobile operator said the new tariffs are part of its efforts to increase its average mobile revenue per user (ARPU). The operator said that the tariffs for prepaid and postpaid data plans will be revised next week. Airtel’s price hike comes hours after rival Reliance Jio on Thursday announced new tariffs and increased the prices of its plans in the country.
Price hike for Airtel prepaid plans
After the new plans are introduced, Airtel prepaid customers will have to pay extra to access the company’s data and calling plans. The telco said it plans to increase ARPU to over Rs 100 crore. You need $300 to maintain your income while investing in network technology and spectrum.

Price hike on Airtel postpaid plans
Airtel’s postpaid plans will also become more expensive and customers will have to pay higher monthly charges from July. The Rs 399 plan, which offers 40GB data, connection and an Xstream Premium subscription, will soon cost Rs 200 lakh. 449. On the other hand, Rs. 499 plan, which offers 75GB data and subscription to Xstream Premium, Disney+ Hotstar and Amazon Prime, is priced at Rs. 549.
The operator said that two other postpaid plans will also see price increases. According to Airtel, the new tariffs will be effective from July 3 for both prepaid and postpaid plans. Starting next week, telecom companies will display revised tariffs for prepaid recharge plans on their websites. Likewise, monthly fees for postpaid customers will increase under the new tariff, the company said.
