The announcement of the Asus ROG Ally It is an updated version of the original ROG Ally and not a successor. A look at the device details reveals that the ROG Ally X will receive some much-needed hardware improvements. This includes things like battery improvements. According to VideoCardz, the Asus ROG Ally X will come with a much larger 80Wh battery, allowing users to game for longer. The original device featured a 40Wh battery and users complained about the original console’s poor battery life.
Another area that will improve with the launch of the ROG Ally X is the storage department. The company is equipping the ROG Ally with 16GB of RAM, the ROG Ally will have 24GB of LPDDR5 storage. The memory bandwidth also increases from 6400 MHz in the current model to 7500 MHz.
According to the report, the ROG Ally X will feature the same AMD Ryzen Z1 Ultimate APU that powers the first-generation ROG Ally. The 7-inch Full HD display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz will also be retained in the upcoming device.
ASUS also replaced the first-generation ROG Ally fan with a fan that is 23% smaller and has 50% thinner fins than the previous generation, resulting in a 10% increase in airflow in the next ROG Ally X.
The larger battery also increases the size and weight of the ROG Ally X. According to the report, the device will be 36.9mm thick, which is 4.5mm thicker than the original model. It weighs 678 grams, making it 70 grams heavier than the ROG Ally. We can expect to hear more about the Asus ROG Ally at Computex 2024 starting June 4th
