A year ago, on 19-20 March 2018, India had organised an Informal WTO Ministerial Gathering, in which more than 50 Members – both developed and developing- had participated.
Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu hoped that the New Delhi Ministerial Meeting will re-endorse the centrality of development in WTO negotiations and provide suggestions for WTO reforms with development at its core.
Meanwhile, Commerce Minister Suresh Prabhu has tweeted and said that WTO should be an engine of growth for #Global #trade and an instrument for national development of all its members.
WTO #MiniMinisterial Meeting at #Delhi is for like-minded nations and not against any country or group of countries. The reality of challenges that developing countries face should be borne in mind while tenets of global trade are being negotiated.
Commerce Secretary Anup Wadhawan has said that development was the core issue that was discussed during the meeting.
