Why You Should Add Ice Into Your Beauty Routine

There are many ways to utilize ice for beauty applications. Ice is so cheap and abundant, it can help save a lot of money over commercial cosmetics products that often offer to achieve the same thing for a hefty fee. Unlike cosmetic beauty products that are filled with all kinds of adulterants and astringent chemicals, ice is made of pure water.

Safe, cheap, all-natural… sounds good, right? Well, I’m here today to give you some of the best ways to make use of ice to help your skin look and feel at its best.

Reduce Puffy Eyes

Icing your eyes is a great way to reduce puffiness and dark circles. This often occurs due to high levels of stress, lack of sleep, and dehydration we all encounter while leading our busy, modern lives. Taking just ten minutes a day out of your schedule to put an ice compress on your eyes can reduce swelling and dark circles by gently hydrating the area and increasing circulation, which accelerates healing.

Just try it. After you’ve had ice cubes under your eyes for around ten minutes, remove them and gently dab them dry with a soft towel. You’ll find that your swelling has reduced and your eyes will feel fresh and crystal clear. What’s more, it’s a great excuse to take a break from screens and pressure with some refreshing and meditative me-time.

Shrink Pimples Overnight

Pimples occur when something under the skin, such as dirty impurities or dead skin cells, causes a reaction from the immune system. Your body increases blood flow to saturate the area in white blood cells, which attack the problem sites. The difficulty with this is that you get red and white pimple head that honestly looks horrible.

Using ice cubes for pimples can help to reduce the swelling and irritation caused, as well as to slow down the body’s overreaction to these little particles.

To do so, simply remove an ice cube from the freezer and allow it to start melting. Once there’s a film of water around it, press it onto the pimple for around 30 seconds to a minute. The inflammation will visibly reduce. Keep doing this every 5 minutes until the pimple has stopped reducing or you’re happy with the size, then throw some concealer over it and get on with your day.

Get Flawless Makeup

This is a great tip! Consider wiping your face with an ice cube to seal pores before applying makeup to create a flawless finish. This is a practical advice that comes from makeup artists who has been working on models for catwalks and live events where their skin has to look its best.

So, simply take a wet ice cube and slowly wipe it side to side across your forehead, down the nose, across the cheeks, over the lips, and around the chin, down onto the top of the neck. Do it slowly to ensure the ice has time to work. When you’re done, you should now have perfectly sealed pores for easy makeup appliance.

An Instant Glow

Looking fresh-faced can take a lot of work – a rigorous long-distance run or similar hardcore cardio can help flush the face and get the blood flowing, creating a beautiful glow that makes you look vibrant and alive. Otherwise, try putting an ice pack on your face for a few minutes.

This will draw blood up to the surface of the skin as it tries to re-balance the temperature, giving you that fresh, flushed look that can make skin glow without having to do all that hard work. This flushing effect can actually encourage the skin to work harder at its natural processes, too, keeping it young and fighting the appearance of visible signs of aging.
