She reviewed the progress of cases of sexual harassment in Air India and Air India Express in New Delhi on Thursday. The officials of Ministry of Civil Aviation, DoPT and WCD Ministry were present at the meeting.
Air India CMD informed that there are 12 ongoing cases before different ICCs. The minister said that the ICCs have been instructed to quickly process these cases to enable women, with genuine grievances, to explore proper administrative & legal mechanisms for redressal.
She said that the aviation sector, has become more inclusive in its workforce in recent times. She also urged male employees, especially pilots, to remain extra sensitive to the perceptions of their female colleagues.
WCD ministry has directed Air India to sensitise its male employees so that women do not feel threatened in any manner. She also requested the Civil Aviation Ministry to similarly sensitise male staff of private airlines.
