US distances itself from Omar’s visit to Pakistan

Washington, April 22 : The US administration has distanced itself from Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s trip to Pakistan this week. Addressing reporters on Thursday, State Department spokesperson Ned Price said: “As I understand it, Representative Omar is not visiting Pakistan on US government-sponsored travel.” The US response is followed by India’s condemnation of Omar’s visit to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. Condemning her visit, India’s External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi said on Thursday: “We have noted that she has visited parts of the Indian on Territory of Jammu and Kashmir that is currently illegally occupied by Pakistan. “If such a politician wishes to practice her narrow-minded politics at home, that may be her business. “But violating our territorial integrity and sovereignty in its pursuit makes it ours… the visit is condemnable,” he added. Congresswoman Omar, who is on a four-day visit to Pakistan till April 24, visited Pakistani Kashmir on Wednesday. MYK MR
