Speaking to the media after the discussions, party deputy leader and Minister Sajith Premadasa said that a positive outcome would be obtained within a short period of time and several rounds of talks will be held in the next few days.
He said the talks with Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe have been very cordial and positive regarding the candidate who is going to contest for the forthcoming election.
He said the Prime Minister was in a positive mood and was of the opinion that all issues can be resolved through discussions in the next few days.
Another minister tweeted that the two leaders will held discussions with constituents of United National Front (UNF), which is proposed to be formed for the elections including several parties representing minority interests.
Non-cabinet Minister Dr. Harsha de Silva said an agreement will be finalized in a few days after discussing with partners to nominate Sajith Premadasa as the UNP led alliance candidate with the total backing of Ranil Wickremesinghe and Speaker Karu Jayasuriya.
