Runners and cyclists crowd Barcelona after 49 days of lockdown

Thousands of Spaniards woke early and laced up their sports shoes after a prohibition on outdoor exercise during the coronavirus pandemic ended after seven weeks.

Runners and cyclists crowded paths near the beach in Barcelona. From Saturday, people will be allowed to take short walks and play sports from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Spain has had one of the worst outbreaks in the world, but is past its peak and gradually easing lockdown restrictions.
