Rift surfaces in Bangladesh main opposition Jatiya Party

In a press statement issued last night Raushan Irshad said that G.M. Qader is only the acting Chairman of the party since the party forum has not taken any decision on the issue.

Rift has surfaced within the Bangladesh’s Jatiya Party after G.M. Qader the younger brother of late President H.M. Ershad was declared Chairman on July 18 amid division within the party on the issue.

H.M. Ershad had appointed Qader as acting Chairman of Jatiya Party in May this year.

However, in an interview to a newspaper G.M.Qader claimed that he is the Chairman of the Jatiya Party as the party constitution gives full power to the Chief to appoint anyone to any position.
