The State government had sought the helicopters from centre. Union Minister Ravishankar Prasad today reviewed situation with top officials of the state government in Patna. He said the centre is providing all possible help to Bihar. Relief and rescue operations are in full swing. State government has decided to drop air food packets among affected people. Jawans of NDRF are evacuating people with the help of boats. Three lakh people have been affected in low lying areas of Patna.
Over 25 thousand affected people have so far been evacuated so far. The administration is distributing relief materials. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is personally monitoring relief and rescue operations. Met department has predicted torrential rains in next 24 hours in 15 districts of eastern part of the state which includes Supaul, Araria, Kishaganj, Madhepura, Purnea and Saharsa. In view of the situation all educational institutions have been closed till tomorrow.
