Rajya Sabha adjourned over Assam’s NRC

After a smooth first half of the session, the upper House was adjourned minutes after it reconvened after lunch break.

A short duration discussion on farmers issues and MSP was to be held.

Before the discussion could begin,  Leader of Opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad requested for a reply by the Home Minister on the NRC issue.

The government agreed to his request. However, BJP MP Piyush Goyal raised an objection to the opposition’s double standards.

He said that they weren’t allowing BJP President Amit Shah to speak but were seeking a reply from the Home Minister.

However, TMC MPs continued to raise a ruckus over the NRC issue forcing the adjournment for the day.
