In Andhra Pradesh, at least 11 people died after a boat carrying over 73 people capsized in the Godavari river. While 39 people are missing, 27 people were rescued.
The boat, belonging to a private operator, was on its way to the picturesque Papi kondalu tourist spot in the middle of the river when it met with the accident.
Two teams of National Disaster Response Force and State Disaster Response Force were sent to the accident spot for rescue operations.
The state govt has announced Rs. 10 Lakh Ex-Gratia for kin of the deceased. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy has sought a complete report on the incident and asked for the release of safety guidelines prepared by an expert committee.

Vice president Venkaiah Naidu also expressed grief over boat tragedy in Andra PRadesh. Vice President in a tweet said that “Deeply Saddened to learn about the loss of lives in tourist boat capsize in Godavari River near Kacchuluru village in Devipatnam Mandal of the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh. Heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the speedy recovery of the injured.
While, expressing his grief over loss of life in boat tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi in a tweet said that ‘Extremely pained by the capsizing of a boat in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari. My thoughts are with the bereaved families.’
