Udaipur : The Kotwali police in Chittorgarh has filed a petition before the magistrate against Mavli legislator DharamNarayan Joshi and ex-MLA Suresh Dhakad for scuffling with the public servants on duty on April 6, when they had accompanied the sitting MP C.P Joshi to file his nominations for the Chittorgarh LokSabha seat. The petition has been produced before a local court , under section 186 of the IPC related to causing voluntary obstruction to a public servant in the discharge of his public functions.
The law provisions for a punishment of 3 months imprisonment or penalty up to 500 rupees or both. The police has submitted CCTV footages of the entire episode where the BJP leaders are seen misbehaving with Chittorgarh collector Shivangi Swarnakar when she objected to the number of persons beyond the permissible limit to accompany the candidate while filing nominations. The police asked Jila Pramukh Leela Jat and legislator Arjunlal Jeengar to go out of the chamber which irked Mavli MLA Joshi and former legislator Dhakad. They had a heated conversation with the collector who refused to take the nomination unless only five people remained in the chamber.
The BJP leaders allegedly passed rude comments and even said that if she behaved similarly with the Congress candidate, she would get a transfer order by evening. The leaders also messed up with police officers who asked the additional persons to leave the room. Collector Shivangi had registered her objections strongly over the incident and written a letter to the SP to take required action. At the behest of the SP, concerning Kotwali police filed the court complaint.
Kotwali police has submitted before the court, the CCTV footage of the entire episode and recorded statements of assistant electoral officer Mukesh Kalal, SDM Vinod Kumar and DySP Rishikesh Meena.
