Addressing party members President Amit Shah recalled the contributions of late former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee in building the party.
This is the first executive meeting after his demise. Amit Shah termed the so-called opposition Mahagathbandhan an eye wash.
He said 2019 polls will see NDA winning a big majority once again. Amit Shah recounted the achievements of the Modi government including various flagship schemes. He said that India has emerged as the fastest growing economy in the world.
Addressing the media, senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that Amit Shah hit out at the the Congress party for working towards breaking India while the BJP government pushed for ‘Making India’.
Before the Executive meet, BJP President Amit Shah chaired a meeting of the National Office bearers of the party.
They vowed to ensure the party’s return to power in the Lok Sabha elections with a bigger victory than 2014 when it had won a majority on its own for the first time in its electoral history.
A slogan of “Ajey BJP” or Invincible BJP was adopted by the party’s national office bearers and presidents of its state units.
They pledged to work for the party’s victory in assembly polls in five states and a decision was taken to give extra emphasis on the elections in Telangana, which is likely to go the polls with states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
