PM Modi kicked off the drive by giving BJP’s membership to five people at Deendayal Upadhyaya Trade Facilitation Centre in Bada Lalpur in his Parliamentary constituency.
Prime Minister also released a toll-free mobile number 8980808080 in this regard and addressed around 5,000 party workers there. The launch of the BJP’s membership drive from Varanasi coincides with the birth anniversary of Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee.
UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, BJP Working President JP Nadda and UP BJP President Mahendra Nath Pandey also spoke on the occasion.
PM Modi also launched a tree plantation drive in Varanasi. Under the drive, Uttar Pradesh government will plant 22 crore trees in the state.
Prime Minister Modi also unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri at Babatpur airport in Varanasi today.
