PM Modi addresses UNSG Climate Action Summit

Addressing the United Nations climate Action Summit in New York today, Prime Minister said that People’s movement is the need of the hour to tackle the climate issues. He said, More needs to be done to tackle climate change.

Putting India’s position to the world, he said, Need not greed has been our guiding principle. In his brief and crisp address, Prime Minister mentioned that India is encouraging e- mobility for transportation.

India has started Jal Jeevan Mission and India is going to spend 15 billion dollars in the next few years. He informed the world leaders that on its independence day this August 15th, India has called for to ban single-use plastic.

Later, Prime Minister is scheduled to have bilateral meetings with Amir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani, Prime Minister of Italy, Giuseppe Conte, President of Namibia, Hage Geingob and President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohammed Solih. He will also have a meeting with Executive Director of UNICEF, Ms Henrietta H Fore.

Later in the day, Prime Minister will inaugurate Gandhi Solar Park at the UN headquarters and Gandhi Peace Garden.PM Modi arrived in New York on the second leg of his week-long US visit after an unprecedented and historic visit to Houston.
