Normalcy resumes in Assam

No untoward incident has been reported during the last two days. However,there were peaceful protests at few places on Saturday as well.

Curfew was relaxed for a few hours in Guwahati and Dibrugarh municipal areas on Saturday.

North East Frontier Railway ran a special train Saturday afternoon between Guwahati and Dimapur to help the stranded passengers.

However, Mobile internet services will remain shut down till 9 a.m. on Monday.

A large number of people thronged markets in Guwahati to buy goods and vehicles were on the roads in the city during the relaxation of curfew.

The Assam Government has provided two telephone numbers of the Tourism Department for the help of stranded tourists in the state for any assistance.

The numbers are – 94351- 83370 and 60023-77090. A strict vigil is being maintained by security agencies. Meanwhile, flight operations are normal in North East except Dibrugarh.

Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal said that he discussed the present situation in Assam in a meeting with his Cabinet colleagues, Union Minister  Rameshwar Teli, MPs, MLAs and other BJP leaders in Guwahati.
