No scope for any discrimination in Assam NRC: HM Rajnath Singh

Rajnath Singh said that the drawing up process of the final draft was entirely transparent and names of all qualifying Indian citizens had been included within the deadline set by the Supreme Court. He further added that those whose names were missing could easily challenge the register through proper legal procedure..

The NRC issue came up in the Lok Sabha as well when the TMC raised the issue of its MPs being stopped at Silchar Airport. Home Minister said that the step had been taken in view of the law and order situation because the members of the party were misbehaving.

TMC has moved a notice for breach of privilege against the Assam Home Secretary and others for detaining MPs.

The BJP too was in attacking mode over the issue.. Poonam Mahajan chief of the party’s youth wing led the attack against West Bengal CM Mamata Bannerjee calling her ‘U turn DIDI’
