No illegal migrant will be allowed to settle: HM Amit Shah

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on second day of his visit to Guwahati addressed the 68th plenary session of the North Eastern Council. He said that while Article 370 was temporary in nature, whereas Article 371 is about special provisions in the North East.

On Day 2, the Minister met Assam Governor Jagdish Mukhi on Monday. Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and the state’s Finance & Health Minister Himant Biswa Sarma were also present during the meeting.

Earlier, the Home Minister chaired the North East Council meeting in Guwahati on Sunday where he had assured all attendees that the Centre will not allow a single illegal immigrant to stay in the country.

This is the first visit by the Home Minister to the state after the publication of the final list of the National Register of Citizens in the state.

The Home Minister also took time out to seek blessings of the revered deity at the Kamakhya temple accompanied by the state’s CM, FM and other officials.

This is his first visit to the shrine after becoming the country’s home minister.

The HM climbed the stairs of the hill top shrine to pay his obeisances.

He was also felicitated by the temple authorities in a traditional manner.
