Nepal: Death toll in rain related incidents climbs to 43

Twenty four persons are still missing and twenty have been injured in various parts of the country due to flood and landslides triggered by rainfall since Thursday.

Normal life has been affected in different parts of Himalyan nation due to incessant rain.Tarai region, the southern plane of the country, is  worst affected.

Hundreds of houses have been damaged by rain and thousands of people shifted to safer places in various parts of Tarai.

Many highways were blocked due to flood and landslides. A bridge along the East-West Highway in Bardibas municipality of Mahottari district was swept away yesterday causing complete halt of transportation on the highway.

Meanwhile,Nepal Police, Army and local administration carrying rescue and relief operation.

More than 1100 people have been rescued so far. Water level in various rivers is increasing and some are flowing above the danger level at few places.

People living on the banks of rivers and nearby areas have been advised to be on high alert.

According to Meteorological Forecasting Division heavy rainfall is likely to occur at a few places of the eastern and central regions and at one or two places of the western region.
