NCPCR issues advisory over misuse of children during protests against CAA

The NCPCR said, it has come to Commission’s notice that certain groups of protesters are involving children in unlawful activities like stone-pelting and other violent acts during the protests.

The Commission said that such use of children prima facie amounts to a violation of the right of children under provisions of Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection) Act 2015.

The Act states that any adult or an adult group uses children for illegal activities either individually or as a gang shall be liable for rigorous imprisonment for a term which may extend to seven years and shall also be liable for a fine of five lakh rupees.
