Nation pays homage to Dr BR Ambedkar on his 64th Mahaparinirvan Diwas

He paid floral tributes at his Statue at Parliament House Complex on Friday morning. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Thawarchand Gehlot Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi and Members of Parliament paid floral tribute at Dr Ambedkar’s statue. Besides, hundreds of people from all walks of life also paid tributes to him.

In a tweet, Vice President said, people must draw inspiration from the vision and wisdom of Dr Ambedkar. He said, the tributes paid to him today will be meaningful only if people follow his ideals and uphold the values and ethics he propounded, in public life. In his tweet, Prime Minister Modi said Baba Saheb dedicated his life for social justice and gave a unique gift to the country in the form of constitution, which is the cornerstone of the Indian democracy. He said, a grateful nation will always be indebted to him.

Maharashtra Chief Minister has said that the proposed memorial of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar at Indu Mills compound will serve as an inspiration for people seeking justice and equality. In his statement on the eve of Mahaparinirvan Diwas, Uddhav Thackeray said his government will work on the principles of social justice and brotherhood as prescribed by Babasaheb.

Mumbai Police has made elaborate security arrangement in view of huge congregations, expected at Chityabhoom today. Around 40,000 police personnel have been deployed for maintaining a strict vigil. While Western and Central Railway announced special trains to clear the extra rush apart from setting up additional facilities like helpdesks, drinking water facility, medical aid, etc. Mumbai’s civic body tools ready to provide needful assistance.
