Mumbai: 13 dead after wall collapses in Malad

Heavy downpour has led to incidents of wall collapse at several places across Maharashtra. In the Malad area of Mumbai, at least 13 persons died after a wall collapsed in Pimpripada area.

A compound wall collapsed on the hutments near a school due to heavy downpour. Many are feared trapped under the debris.

National Disaster Response Force, fire brigade and police are carrying out rescue operation on the spot. Injured have been admitted to the trauma centre at Jogeshwari and Shatabdi Hospital in Kandivali.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis has expressed grief over loss of lives in Malad Wall Collapse incidence. He also announced compensation of Rs 5 lakh for the kin of deceased.
