Mukul Roy’s son suspended from TMC for six years

Kolkata, May 24 (Udaipur Kiran): Within hours of praising his father Mukul Roy’s ‘political maturity’ in a public forum, Trinamool Congress MLA from Bizpur in Nadia District, Subhrangshu Roy was today suspended from the party for six years for his unabated alleged ‘anti party activities’.
Announcing his suspension from the ruling party with immediate effect in consultation with Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the Head of TMC Disciplinary Committee and state Education minister Partha Chatterjee said here this afternoon that ‘we have been watching for the past several months that our own party MLA Subhrangshu Roy despite being a TMC legislator, have repeatedly been making anti party remarks in various fora and violating party rules rather deliberately, forcing us to take the decision after several consideration’.
He said that it was very unfortunate that ‘Subhrangshu Roy who is the son of a senior BJP leader had been criticising his own party work culture and instead praising another party.
Though he was warned and alerted a number of times, he did not change his stand and continued to indulge himself in anti party activities, Chatterjee said and reiterated the party supremo’s decision to suspend junior Roy for six years from the party with effect from today.
It may be recalled that earlier today Subhrangshu hailed his father’s ‘organisational prowess’ to cause TMC’s ‘unexpected political disaster’ in Bengal at the Lok Sabha poll.
Conceding the defeat of Rupali Biswas, TMC candidate for Ranaghat Lok Sabha seat, to BJP nominee Mukut Mani Adhikari by a considerable margin yesterday, Subhrangshu said that he could not match the ‘political maturity’ of his father who almost singlehandedly brought an end to the TMC supremacy in the state.
He also expressed his doubt whether his party (TMC) leaders had full faith on him and believed him as a true worker of the party because of his family background. But at the same breadth he claimed that he was a ‘genuine follower of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and TMC’. ‘But for my family background I am not believed by them’, he regretted.
Now, it remains to be seen after his suspension what immediate decision the son of Mukul Roy would take and whether he indeed would decide to join BJP following the footsteps of his father.
