The meeting was chaired by Home Minister Rajnath Singh. The council reviewed the development initiatives for the region in the last four years, particularly in the area security, connectivity and job creation.
This assumes importance as the North-East joined the nation’s mainstream of development over the last 4 years through a wide range of efforts. Rajnath Sigh stressed the point that New India cannot emerge unless New North-East emerges.
The two-day meet was also attended by Development of North-East Region Minister Dr Jitendra Singh, Governors and Chief Ministers of North-East states attending. It was clear during the deliberations that the govt’s efforts to ensure the North-East region’s all round development has started delivering results. Work has been done at several levels to improve connectivity. Home Minister Rajnath Singh said good connectivity will help in generating jobs and will tackle migration.
Security situation has also improved in last 4 years.
