Prime Minister Narendra Modi in his 47 Mann Ki Baat Broadcast, expressed grief over loss of life and property due to floods in Kerala. He assured all possible assistance from centre.
Prime Minister praised the bravery of armed forces and NDRF in their valiant rescue effort. He praised the indomitable spirit of people of Kerala and expressed the confidence that Kerala will recover from the calamity very soon.
PM Modi said that disaster management has assumed immense significance due to natural calamities. He stressed that new forms of structural engineering, eco-friendly constructions, and zero waste should be the priority and it needs to be pondered upon while observing Engineers Day next month.
Prime Minister hailed the recently concluded Monsoon sesson of Parliament as historic. He said members of treasury and opposition benches got together and passed historic bills empowering SC , ST and OBCs. He said that the bill providing for stringent punishment to rapists confirms government’s resolve to uphold honour of women as top priority.
Prime Minister also assesrted that his government is committed to provide justice to Muslim women victims of Triple Talaq. He also Thanked the parliamentarians for rising above political differences and conducting the parliament in smooth and productive manner.
Remembering late Atal Bihari Vajpayee, PM Modi said the former Prime Minister will always be revered as the best member of Parliament, sensitive writer, best orator and most popular Prime Minister. He hailed Atalji for giving India a political culture and said that his efforts to bring about changes in country’s political culture, to mould it into an organized framework has proved very beneficial for India. He said India will remain ever grateful to him for bringing the 91st Amendment Act, 2003 which brought about two important changes in India’s politics. The first change is that the size of the cabinet in states was restricted to 15 percent of the total seats in the state Assembly. PM highlighted that Atalji changed the political culture of forming very large cabinets to appease political leaders. He said this effort resulted in the saving of money as well as of resources and also helped in improving efficiency.
Prime Minister greeted the people on the occasion and stressed the importance and greatness of Sanskrit language. He described the strength of Sanskrit Language. He said that Sanskrit texts are store house of knowledge. PM Modi said that Sanskrit grammar has capacity for the construction of infinite combination of words and expressions.
Prime Minister said one can bring more effect to ones expression by using Sanskrit Verses . He appreciated those devoted to the cause of Sanskrit. He said Sanskrit represents Soul of India.
Prime Minister congratulated the players who have won medals for the country in the ongoing Jakarta Asian Games. He said Indian players, are not only performing exceedingly well in shooting and wrestling, but also in Wushu and Rowing. He said, these are not just medals but an evidence of the sky-high spirits of the Indian players.
