Lok Sabha passes Consumer Protection Bill, 2019

The Consumer Protection Bill, 2019 was introduced Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Minister Ram Vilas Paswan on July 8.

Ram Vilas Paswan said the Consumer Protection Act came into effect in 1986 and since then the law has not been revisited. 

He said the central government will set up a Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) to promote, protect and enforce the rights of onsumers.
