The Demosisto party said he had been forcefully pushed into a private mini-van on the street while walking to a train station at around 07:30 local time this morning. He was then taken to police headquarters in Wan Chai, the party said.
Tomorrow marks the fifth anniversary of Beijing’s rejection of a call for universal suffrage in the city, a decision that sparked the 79-day Umbrella Movement led by mainly young protesters including Wong.
The protests ignited when the Hong Kong’s Beijing-backed government tried to pass a bill allowing extraditions to mainland China.
