Bengaluru,11 July(Udaipur Kiran): The HD Kumaraswamy led cabinet of Janata Dal-Secular and Indian National Congress(INC) coalition government is scheduled to meet in a short while from now and is expected to take a call on the present political crisis in which the alliance partners have been embroiled into, thanks to multiple resignations of their respective parties.
The trouble to the JDS-INC government began with the resignation of a handful of ruling Congress party legislators only to be followed by many others belonging to both the parties. The resignation spree assumed an alarming proposition when H Vishwanath, Hunsuru MLA and former state Janata Dal-Secular party president himself bid adieu to his membership of the state Assembly.
Many others belonging to both the ruling parties followed the move taking the coalition government by a big surprise and shock. To checkmate this political strategy the ruling combine seems to have adopted a slow down policy over the issue of accepting the resignations.
KR Rameshkumar, speaker of the state Assembly was not in town when 16 MLAs’ approached his office to hand over their resignations in person. However, the speaker’s office received them and also gave an acknowledgement for having received them.
But in the following days, the speaker started changing his stance multiple times. First, he denied having received any resignation letters only to clarify later that only five of them were in order. These dilly-dallying tactics angered the saffron party which had arranged for a chartered flight to ferry all the 16 legislators to Mumbai.
Both, the ruling and opposition parties raised a hue and cry over the matter and now a case is being filed on behalf of the all the legislators who have put their papers in the apex court.
Today’s cabinet meeting is expected to take a call on the fate of the coalition government as to whether to quit or recommend for dissolution of the government?
