Chief Secretary B V R Subrahmanyam on Monday chaired a video conference with Deputy Commissioners of Kashmir Division to discuss the roll out of the Special Market Intervention Price Scheme, being introduced to procure nearly 12 lakh MTs of apple on remunerative prices. Secretary, Horticulture was also present in the meeting.
The Scheme will enhance apple growers’ income in Valley by about Rs. 2,000 crore.
The Department of Information and Public relations, J&K in a tweet said that apple will be procured from growers and aggregators at Fruit Mandis viz. Sopore in Baramulla, Parimpora in Srinagar, Shopian & Batengo in Anantnag district..
