The bill seeks to amend the Jammu and Kashmir Reservation Act of 2004, extending the benefits of reservation to people living near the international border in the state.
The Aadhaar and Other Laws (Amendment) Bill, 2019 was also introduced in the house. The bill proposes to allow voluntary use of Aadhaar for authentication and identity proof in opening bank accounts and procuring mobile phone connections.
It gives a child an option to exit from the biometric ID programme on reaching the age of 18 and stipulates stiff penalties for violation of norms.
The SEZ amendment bill was also introduced in the Lok Sabha on Monday. It proposes to allow trusts to set up units in special economic zones.
The Union Cabinet had recently approved the Special Economic Zone Amendment Bill 2019, which will replace the ordinance related to it, and also seeks to amend the Special Economic Zone Act 2005.
