Concluding its visit in Srinagar, the three Special Observers appointed by the Election Commission of India, Vinod Zutshi, Noor Muhammad and A S Gill, arrived in Jammu on Friday afternoon and held deliberations with political parties.

The representatives of most of the national as well as regional political parties including Congress, PDP, BSP, JKNPP stressed that the Assembly elections should be held as soon as possible to restore the popular government in Jammu and Kashmir.
The BJP, however, was of the view that conducive atmosphere is the pre-requisition for Assembly Elections.
The National Conference argued that the party has already made its position clear on holding of General as well as Assembly Elections in the state leaving no scope to meet the observers again.
The observers have been tasked to make a real-time assessment of the situation by meeting political parties, district and state authorities and other stakeholders.
