In order to exercise their franchise through postal ballot, the voter will have to fill up Form 12-D within five days from the nomination date. The Chief Electoral Officer said voters will not need to be queued in the polling stations in this assembly elections as token system will be available through which voters can collect tokens from booth and vote when their turn comes.
Apart from this, the ‘booth app’ will be used in ten assembly constituencies. Under this, the voters can download the booth app on their smartphone. Through this app, they can know the number of voters present at their polling station and accordingly they can go to the booth and cast their vote.
In addition to all these new services, minimum assured facilities including drinking water, toilets and seating arrangement will be made available in all polling stations. Election Commission is constantly engaged in making this festival of democracy as a big celebration and is also ensuring use of better technology.
