Jharkhand Assembly Polls: Campaigning picks up pace

Soon after the first phase of Jharkhand elections got over, political parties have started campaigning for the rest of the phases of elections.

Leaders of various political parties are holding rallies and seeking votes for their candidates.

BJP National President and Union Home Minister Amit Shah held two rallies in the state and appealed to voters to vote for the incumbent Raghubar Das government.

He addressed a public meeting at Chakradharpur and said..previous govts failed to provide stability because they lacked a clear mandate. He also said people have to choose between option of Naxalism or development adding that the Raghubar Das-led Government has eradicated Naxalism in the state.

Amit Shah took a dig at the opposition camp. He said parties that exploit tribals, indulge in graft worth crores, and buy and sell poll tickets could never work for Jharkhand’s development.

Addessing his second rally in Jamshedpur, Amit Shah challenged Congress leader Rahul Gandhi asking for an account of his party’s work in 10 years and what the Cong has done for Jharkhand. He said Modi govt is giving houses and electricity to people.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi held a rally in Simdega. He attacked the Jharkhand government and appealed to voters to vote for Congress. He also promised to waive farm loans if voted to power in the state.

Campaigning by JMM and JVM has also gained momentum. The first phase of the five-phased elections in Jharkhand took place on 30th Nov. The second phase will be on 7th Dec and counting will take place on 23rd December.
