Humble backgrounds see IPL riches

T Natarajan: 3 crores (base price 10L)

He is a son a daily wage worker in saree-making unit in remote Salem district. His father Also worked as a porter in Railway station. His mother sells snacks in the same village to support a family of five.

Natarajan is a left-arm fast bowler from Tamil Nadu. He was reported for suspect action early in his career but got big money because he is a death over specialist; bowled 6 yorkers in an over in Tamil Nadu Premier League to hit headlines. Played a lot of tennis ball cricket before his foray with the cricket ball.

Mohd Siraj: (base price Rs 20L) 2.6 crores to Sunrisers Hyderabad

Fast bowler from Hyderabad, is a son of an Auto driver. His father has been driving an auto for last 30 years. Siraj is 22 years and played for Rest of India, with 21 wkts this Ranji season and is amongst the fastest.  

Star Indian players go empty-handed

Ishant Sharma goes unsold, twice; doesn’t even make it to short-list in third round.  

He was the only Indian with highest base price of Rs 2 crores.

Left-arm seamer Aniket Choudhary from Rajasthan was sold for Rs 2 crores to Royal Challengers Bangalore, apart from T Natarajan and Mohd Siraj.

Basil Thampy, fast bowler from Kerala got Rs 85 lakhs to Gujarat Lions

Biggest Buys this IPL auction

Ben Stokes went for 14.5 crores to Pune Supergiants, the highest bid in the auction.

Tymal Mills was second, with a bid of Rs 12 crores from RCB.

Together England players made a killing in the IPL auction.

Headlines of IPL auction 10

First time Afghanistan players will feature in IPL. Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan were picked in the auction. Nabi became the first player to be picked but leg-spinner Rashid made headlines when he was picked for 4 crores.

World No.1 T20 bowler, Imran Tahir went unsold in the IPL auction.
