Indonesia: Protesters clash with police

Protesters hurled fireworks and other objects at officers in riot gear on a few streets in the capital as police retaliate with teargas and water canon.

Protests broke out after General Election Commission confirmed unofficial counts, giving Widodo a 55.5 per cent share of votes.

Joko Widodo won more than 85 million votes of a total of 154 million cast in the world’s third-largest democracy, but his rival Prabowo told reporters he believed there had been widespread cheating.
